Castle Archives
Following years of dedicated research and preservation, much of the material featured within our archives has been carefully collected and maintained by the Milford on Sea Historical Record Society, working closely alongside English Heritage. Together, they continue to piece together the remarkable story of Hurst Castle from its very beginnings in 1541 during the reign of Henry VIII, through centuries of military service, coastal defence, and local history. Throughout this section, we will continue to expand and update the archives with new discoveries, photographs, documents, and information relating not only to the castle itself, but also to the surrounding coastline, communities, and waters that have shaped its history.
