Discover Hurst Castle
Experience the military might of this fortress by the sea
Even though Hurst Castle is currently closed, you can still enjoy this beautiful coastline with a walk or ferry ride to Hurst Spit.
Refreshments are available outside the castle every day and the ferry service, between the castle and Keyhaven, departs daily from 10am, then approximately every 30 minutes.
Hurst Castle is currently closed as part of government COVID-19 restrictions. At the end of February, a section of wall on the castle’s east wing collapsed and as a result the beach in front of the castle is closed. We are very grateful to everyone for their words of support. We will return to normal opening hours as soon as we are able.
We look forward to welcoming you back to this artillery fortress built by Henry VIII. A visit to Hurst Castle is one of the best days out in the New Forest with plenty of open space for children to explore and fantastic views of the Isle of Wight. It is a must for visitors to this area.
Hurst Castle is managed by Hurst Marine on behalf of English Heritage, who care for over 400 historic monuments, buildings and places.
