Discover Hurst Castle

Experience the military might of this fortress by the sea

Construction works are currently taking place to strengthen the shingle bed on which Hurst Castle has been built. Until these are completed, it has unfortunately been necessary to close off the WWII room, the laundry room, the searchlight room and the Friends of Hurst Castle rooms of Hurst Castle to the public. English Heritage would like to apologise for the inconvenience.
The walk to Hurst Castle along Hurst Spit is still accessible but the beach at the front of the castle (overlooking the Isle of Wight) is currently closed.
English Heritage Hurst Castle

Come and discover one of the best days out in the New Forest and visit this artillery fortress built by Henry VIII. With plenty of open space for children to explore and fantastic views of the Isle of Wight, Hurst Castle is a must for visitors to this area.

Hurst Castle is managed by Hurst Marine on behalf of English Heritage, who care for over 400 historic monuments, buildings and places.
