Hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes, sandwiches, and snacks are available from our takeaway facility located outside the castle.
Please note that while the castle’s Victorian east and west wings remain closed, whilst English Heritage’s conservation and repair project is ongoing, we are unable to serve visitors at our café inside the castle.
Did you know…
All our food is bought daily and comes over to the castle in one of our ferries – so when it’s sold out, we can’t just pop to the shops to get some more.
The castle’s electricity supply is only made possible by two three-phase generators as there isn’t any mains electricity on the spit.
We can’t offer you a glass of tap water as there isn’t any running water! Our water comes to the castle by tractor along the spit.
Thank you for your understanding
