Explore The New Forest

Long walks in the sun

With unparalleled nature and outstanding views, a day out at Hurst Castle is a must for visitors to the New Forest but the fun doesn’t stop just with us

Whether you are here for just a day visit or longer, you must pay a visit to the lively and picturesque village of Milford on Sea, just a couple of miles from Hurst Castle. This village is surrounded by a traditional Green and has lots of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.

It also has an extensive beachfront that is enjoyed by water sport enthusiasts, beach lovers and swimmers so why not combine your day out at Hurst Castle with a trip to the beach too?

Have a go at paddleboarding or kayaking with The New Forest Paddle Sport Company whilst here or check out its lifestyle shop located in the village.

From Lymington, you can escape further into the rural landscape of The New Forest, exploring unspoilt woodland, heathland and river valleys.

The flat, rugged landscape covers an area of 566 square kilometres and can take you to the quaint, traditional villages of Beaulieu, Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst.

The village of Beaulieu, situated at the head of the tidal Beaulieu River provides a great New Forest day out. Probably best known as the home to the world-famous National Motor Museum, which houses more than 280 vehicles and includes legendary motor vehicles from all over the world, including the record-breaking Bluebird.

Whilst here, discover the beautiful walk along the Beaulieu River path from the village down to Buckler’s Hard. This two-mile walk (each way) takes in some of the most tranquil scenery and wooded glades along the way. Buckler’s Hard is a pretty shipbuilding village that is well worth a visit in its own right.

Not far from Beaulieu is one of the UK’s most famous family theme parks, Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park. At Peppa Pig World not only can you get to meet Peppa and family, but enjoy themed rides and an indoor play area. There’s also Daddy Pig’s Big Tummy café and Peppa’s Toy Shop, the largest (and only) dedicated Peppa Pig shop in the World!

You don’t have to be a Peppa Pig fan to enjoy a visit here, Paultons Park is also home to a multitude of attractions for all ages, from the exhilarating Magma and Cobra rides through to the Water Kingdom with super soakers, water jets and tipping buckets.

One of the many beauties of the New Forest, when you’re here, is that it seems a million miles away from everything, but in reality, it’s only a 90-minute train journey from London.

There is so much to see and do here, with the ever-changing seasons, making this a magical place to visit, whatever the time of year. You’ll also be spoilt for choice in the selection of accommodation and restaurants available to you.
